Dear Colleague,

I am deeply saddened to tell you that we have lost a dear friend and colleague, Michael R. Kelley, Distinguished Service Professor, faculty member of the School of Public Policy and Executive Director of The Capitol Connection. He passed away on Monday afternoon at Washington Hospital Center.

Mike was one of the longest-serving, kindest and most dedicated members of the Mason family. He began teaching at George Mason College in 1970. In 1981, he founded The Capitol Connection, Mason’s business and educational wireless cable television service, which operates to this day. Mike was an entrepreneur in true Mason style and had several other business ventures while working at the university. Just in the last few weeks he was helping us explore several innovative ventures to expand Mason’s reach.

Our hearts go out to his wife and other members of his family at this time of loss.
